Welcome back to Save File Plays Mario RPG. The last episode of Save File Plays Mario RPG. Because we’re at the end of the game, and it’s time to END THIS. I’ve done basically everything. Things I DID NOT DO: Grate Guy’s Casino (I showed it exists though), 30 Super Jumps, 100 Super Jumps, and all the Surprise Boxes. But I defeated Culex and Jinx, and did everything else. So… let’s finish it off!
First of all:
I did a little grinding off camera to get Mario, Toadstool and Geno all to Level 30.
I’m also ending the game a 93/99 possible Flowers and 999 Coins.
Mario has the Lazy Shell, Hero Shirt and Safety Badge to make him immune to status effects and insta-death. Toadstool has the Frying Pan, the Lazy Shell, and the Jinx Belt which makes her slow, powerful and basically the undying.
Lastly, Geno has the Star Gun, the Star Cape, and the Quartz Charm from Culex just because it seems apropo with the “Star” theme.
MUSIC: End of Factory
God, I don’t know why, but I love LOVE those 2 lines. It just makes Smithy seem so badass. It’s so simple and to the point, no grand speeches, nothing special, just a claim that he’s going to kick your ass all over the place.
MUSIC: Fight Against Smithy
AGH, NOSTALGIA BOMB FROM THIS SONG.
Besides Smithy, the Smelter is a target as well. You should actually make the Smelter your priority, because it can add more enemies to the fight. I guess it’s also possible to just take down Smithy as fast as possible, but it just feels right to leave him for last, y’know?
Whoa, that guy’s got some balls.
OH MY GOD, WE’RE IN HELL. WHAT IS THAT THING BACK THERE, IT’S STARING INTO MY SOUL. GAAAAHHHHHH
Sad confession time: This fight used to scare me when I was little. It took me a long time to actually beat the game, because I got to this part multiple times and got scared and had to turn off the game. Smithy’s final form was terrifying, and the Smithy skull in the back staring directly at the screen was not a big help. Even the music is super tense and kind of eerie.
This is a new fight, so I throw down another Power Blast & Crystalline.
Smithy’s gimmick is that he transforms his head into different forms, and each has its own schtick.
The Tank Head just bashes your face in with pure physical attacks. It also has a OHKO move that it uses occasionally.
Smithy also has 2 targets; his head and his body. His body only has 1000 HP, so it’s worth it to take that out quickly and cut his attack speed in half, basically.
For YEARS, I never new what that head was supposed to be, because I looked at Smithy’s weird ass face on the bottom (though it’s more like a groin face), until eventually I looked at the top and realized “OH MY GOD, IT’S A ROBED MAGE HEAD.” It finally clicked with me that this is the “Magic Head” and it looks like a wizard. Sometimes, I am not the most intelligent.
This message means that the Body is back and needs to be taken down again.
This is the Mystery Head, who likes to try and cause status effects.
I call this the Lockbox head. It has very high defense, and that’s about it. It can cast Shredder, which can be pretty annoying.
And that’s all of them! NOW I CAN KILL HIM.
MUSIC: Got a Star Piece
MUSIC: Goodbye, Geno
And there he goes…
Mallow is back home, taking his rightful position as Prince of Nimbus Land.
THANKS FOR READING, EVERYONE! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played this game, and I still love it. I’m pretty sure I know what my next game is, but I was feeling kind of burned out with Legend of Legaia, but this made me feel good because I love this game so much. I hope you enjoyed it, make sure you keep up with all of our other content, and you guys are awesome. My recording software bugged out, so I didn’t manage to get the credits, but here’s a video that someone else was kind enough to upload to Youtube. I hope you enjoy it!
